Oldest brick Catholic church in California. 1855 five prominent miners donated their rich claims on Kennebec Hill for the construction of St. Anne's Church. The architect John Wallace was a young surveyor from England.Through the years it has twice been shuttered but local efforts have restored and rehabilitated the historic building.
